Our client experience team is here to take the stress out of your recovery. We’ll handle all communication with WorkCover, including billing, treatment approvals, and Certificates of Capacity, so you can focus on what matters most—your recovery.
Am I Covered for Physiotherapy Under WorkCover?
Yes – if you’ve been injured at work, WorkCover (WorkSafe Victoria) provides access to physiotherapy and other essential medical services as part of their compensation scheme.
This support is available to all Victorian employees and helps cover medical expenses, rehabilitation, and income support while you recover. Because most workplace injuries involve the musculoskeletal system, physiotherapy plays a key role in your recovery.
What to Do if You’re Injured at Work
1. Report the Incident
Notify your employer as soon as possible. For serious incidents, your employer will submit a report to WorkCover and complete an incident form detailing the injury—this is essential for accessing the services and compensation you're entitled to.
2. Seek Medical Treatment Early
Prompt care helps prevent injuries from worsening. Our Early Intervention Physiotherapists at Croydon Physio specialise in managing workplace injuries to support a quicker, more effective recovery.
3. Obtain a Certificate of Capacity (COC)
If you need time off work, your GP will provide a COC outlining your current capabilities and any required workplace modifications. Once your initial certificate is issued, our specially trained physiotherapists can provide ongoing COCs until you're ready to safely return to full duties.
How to Make a WorkSafe Claim
1. Complete a Worker’s Injury Claim Form
Include all injuries related to your workplace incident. The form is available on the WorkSafe Victoria website and should be submitted to your employer.
2. Wait for Claim Approval
WorkCover Agents have 28 days to make a decision. During this time, you're still entitled to treatment—your employer is responsible for covering the first $855 of medical expenses. You can begin physiotherapy or visit your GP while your claim is being assessed.
Who’s Involved in Your Recovery?
Return to Work Coordinator – Helps facilitate your safe return to suitable duties.
Case Manager – Oversees your claim and approves access to treatment and services.
Croydon Physio – We’re here to guide and support your recovery. All of our physiotherapists have additional WorkSafe-accredited training in managing workplace injuries, with a strong focus on helping you reach your goals and return to what you love.
