CLINICAL EXERCISE AND PILATES
Clinical exercise and pilates at Croydon Physiotherapy is designed for each individual’s
specific needs by a specialised pilates trained physiotherapist. It is suitable for people of
all ages and levels of ability and is used to treat a wide range of injuries and disorders.
Our physiotherapists will complete a detailed assessment and create an individualised
pilates program for you based on their clinical findings with ongoing progressions as you
become stronger.
Clinical exercise and pilates can be a great adjunct and can be incorporated into your
physiotherapy sessions to assist with ongoing strengthening and prevention of injuries. It
can be particularly beneficial for:
- Back pain
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Lower limb pain
- Ante and post-natal conditions
- Sports injuries and return to high level sport and running
- Progressive return to the gym after injury
- Pelvic floor and core strengthening
- Osteoporosis
- Recovery after surgery
- Increasing flexibility and mobility of all joints
- Introduction to mat/reformer pilates for general health
- Postural strength
- Deconditioning or the maintenance/building of muscle as you age
We use a combination of mat and reformer pilates to improve strength and endurance,
as well as balance and the control of movements.
No referral is required and as a 1:1 clinical exercise and pilates session is assessed and
led by a physiotherapist, your session will be covered by most private health insurances
if you have physiotherapy as an extra.
