Tennis Elbow
What is it?
when the tendons, of the extensor muscles in the forearm, are irritated.
The tendon that attaches the muscles on the top of the forearm, to the elbow, is overused or injured.
If we look at healthy tissue under a microscope it will resemble a packet of uncooked spaghetti, thin strands all nice and uniform next to each other. Irritated tissue starts to look wiggly and out of order, more like cooked spaghetti instead!
Symptoms
PAIN!
Pain will mostly be felt around the bony point on the outer side of the elbow.
Not moving or rest will irritate it further.
Pain with twisting or turning (like opening a door handle/jar) or pulling and lifting.
Tennis elbow gets worse without treatment/management Can result in swelling and even weakness/loss of power.
TREATMENT
Tennis elbow treatment requires hands on therapy which can include:
• Deep tissue massage
• Cupping
• Myofascial dry needling
• Stretches
• Loaded exercise program
The extensor muscles loosen up, the tendon tissue heals.
“The wiggly cooked spaghetti will looked un-cooked and straight and aligned once again!”
